Windham Pro XCT Results

It took a while, but full results from the Pro XCT cross country race held last weekend at Windham Mountain Resort in New York are now available.

On the Men’s side Jeremiah Bishop (above) of Team Sho-Air Cannondale bounced back from his early race stomach woes and 4th place finish at Missoula’s XCT and embraced the roots and rocks of East Coast racing with a win at Windham. Derek Zandstra (Scott 3 Rox Racing) finished 35 seconds behind Bishop in 2nd and Todd Wells (Specialized Factory Racing) crossed the line in 3rd. Continue Reading →

While the Euros were off racing the European MTB Championships in Bern, Switzerland many U.S. and Canadian type XC racers headed to the USA Pro XCT race at the Hammer Nutrition XC at Marshall Mountain in Missoula, Montana. Here’s a look at the Pro podiums–

Video: Muddy MTB Bundesliga

mudhillI have no particular reason for posting this video clip from a U-19 mountain bike race in Germany other than I stumbled upon it while looking at something else and found the chaos of the muddy descent humorous.

Then the more I watched it, the more and more jealous I got of the riders cruising around muddy singletrack while I am sitting in my office avoiding work and contemplating going to bed.

I am no huge fan of racing in the mud (mostly because I see hundreds of dollars in parts being destroyed over each and every lap as I finish next to DFL) but I would be lying if I said a good mud race isn’t pretty freaking fun, even if you don’t realize it at the time.

Finishing Fanger Style

From the looks of it, it looks as if there was no doubt that Martin Fanger was happy with his 6th place finish at round one of the UCI XCO World Cup in Albstadt, Germany last month. The same can not be said for teammate Julien Absalon whose bike succumbed to the muddy course conditions and suffered a “a terminal mechanical.”
