Our Polish media contact Tomek Hoppe checks in with a brief update from Stage 4 of the Sudety Challenge:
The fourth stage of the race ran from the Złoty Stok to Walim. There were some long uphills and technical descents today. After the start the bunch was divided into a smaller groups. At the lead of the race were five riders. Among them favorites: Tomas Vokrouhlik and Jason Sager.
Stage Races can be unpredictable, and Tomas Vokrouhlik (CZE, BMC Savo racing) found this out today, when he had two punctures. Jason Sager (USA, Jamis Factory Team) capitalized on the bad luck of the Czech and won todays stage. Jose Luis Arce (ESP) took seond place, and Sonke Werner (GER, World of MTB) was third. The fastest team in Walim were Danish from DMK/ MCV. Swat brothers (POL, Swat Team) have made a good performance. They took a second place on the stage and moved to the second place in GC. Third place for Germans from Velohelden Team. Todays best MIX Team were Ewelina Ortyl and Wojciech Kozłowski (POL, Sudety MTB Challenge / Twomark). Catherine Williamson (RPA) is still is unbeaten in Women’s category.
Tomorrow will be the last stage. We’re getting back to Kudowa to say goodbye to the Sudety Mountains, and say hello to finisher t-shirts.
